Lani is stunned when Theo states he had to snatch a needle from Ben once when he wanted to inject Ciara with memory serum ... Ben is not letting Ciara leave. She pouts she is no prisoner, but he refuses to ever release her. She taunts where is the necktie and he insists he would never harm her. She likens him to all the bad guys in her story, speaks their nefarious names, and Ben gasps she just remembered! ... Stylish Lani doubts Ben would harm Ciara, but Theo thinks otherwise. Suited Eli returns without devastated Julie and Doug ... Allie makes the intros and Nicole gives the crying girl a tissue. Chanel sits on the sofa with Allie and sadly states no sweet bits no bakery ... Paulina admits she planned Pricetown a long time and then she saw the town square. She loved the close location to Lani and babies. Abe warns she blew that relationship as well. Paulina does not deny deceiving Abe and argues she was on the side of decency. Abe is appalled by her brazen audacity, but stylish Paulina stands by her convictions ... - Allie does not understand. Chanel sighs tis a long story. Sympathetic Nicole leaves to get Holly from her little friends. Allie suggests Paulina can help so Chanel bitterly enlightens her. Her mogul mother is tearing down the square ... Bejeweled Paulina rather regrets not knowing how important the square was to Eli and Lani, no to mention Chanel’s last minute bakery dream. She sighs it got more complicated by the Salem second. Abe argues her child was more important, but Paulina argues she would have wound up losing hundreds of thousands by abandoning the project. He assumes she could afford the write-off and then wonders whether she needed money so much she turned on her loved ones ... Lani wonders whether the square demo can be stopped. Eli notes they will soon know. Theo excuses himself to go find Ciara. Lani lets her brother know she loves him. Ditto. Strange music plays. Eli is surprised to hear Ciara is now engaged to Theo but not surprised to hear he is concerned about her being with Ben ... Ben argues Ciara remembers the names of the bad guys in her life, but she claims she only remembered the names nothing more. Ben understands her hesitation and vows to prove he is no bad guy. He opens the door that she may leave when she likes. He warns it would be a big mistake though ... - Allie is astounded when Chanel shares the details of her mother’s deceit. Chanel swears revenge especially for what she did to bff Allie, who got her the best donuts ... Paulina vows she will never be broke again! Abe probes. She sighs when she was young and without means she met a man who lavished his attention and wealth on her. But he turned out to be a jealous monster who isolated her away from her family. Abe is sorry and asks if he was Chanel’s father. Paulina notes no and admits he beat her. She planned her great escape and pocketed a little money at a time until she could leave. Then she vowed to become her own woman and never be beholden to a man again! Meanwhile Eli is sorry about the timing of his surprise anniversary party. Lani is elated they wed and realizes the babies they made slept through the drama of the night. Eli would love to have a quiet night at home, so she goes to get the babies ... Ciara thinks the open door is a trick. Ben boasts he took care of her before and never gave up searching when the town told him she was dead. He was her knight in shining armor who searched in the rubble and called for her. He dug and dug and dug and shouted her name. Ciara hears it now and her expressive eyes flicker. Ben suddenly senses a breakthrough. She soap stares as he realizes she remembers. Theo runs in and orders him away from her but Ben marvels he saw her eyes remember. Ciara denies it and primly asks Theo to escort her to the fireworks. She complains he did not sign the papers and haughtily states she will see him in court. Ben appeals to Theo ... Chanel feels like a fool cos of her mom. Allie has been there and refuses to give up. Together they will find a way to save Sweet Bits! The besties hug again. ... Abe asks how Paulina got together with Chanel’s dad. She gushes he was a good kind poor man. She built her biz, and all seemed well. But then she lost good man George. Money made her feel better. However, with this project she lost sight of the Salem family connections, not to mention that she fell for the mayor! - Ben argues his connection with Ciara is so strong they can see and feel one another. She only said yes since right now she does not remember their love. Ciara snaps to stop talking like she is not here. Ben insists her love is still inside and he dares her to deny it. Theo suddenly looks let down ... Livid Lani tears up Paulina’s check. She is furious she made her father fall for her ... Abe suspects Paulina could be spinning stories. She talks truth. Abe bitterly lists the damage destroying the square would have done to her loved ones. He also alludes to her hoodwinking him and how his constituents will see him now. He weeps she has humiliated him and starts to go but audacious Paulina asks about their relationship. They are through and her project will also be a bust because he shall stop her! He regrets the day she came to town and walks away, ignoring her pleas ... - Back at Julie’s Place, Eli romantically points out how far he and Lani have come this past year. They exchange I love yous, happy anniversary and a romantic kiss ... Chanel is not sure where to go so Allie insists she stay here. Tis Independence Day ... Ciara repeats she and Ben are over and he gently suggests she not rush. She testily denies it and decides to depart with somber Theo. Until court ... Nicole walks woefully behind Rafe and Ava as they hug and watch the fireworks together ... Ben woefully holds Ciara’s picture to his heart. Ciara is now watching the fireworks from the park with Theo ... As the fireworks explode outside, inside Eli kisses his beloved wife ... Abe returns to Julie’s Place alone, looks at the Horton plaque, and raises his eyes to the heavens ... Paulina tries to call Chanel, gets no answer and cries alone in the empty nothingness of her own making. Meanwhile Allie snuggles with sad Chanel on the sofa.
