Claire defends Abe online as Tripp arrives at the loft, much to her surprise. He credits her with changing his mind about leaving ... At the pub Joey thanks Roman for his assistance. Roman is proud he is taking responsibility. Joey worries that even though the D.A. cut him a deal with minimal prison time his mother will be stressed. Kayla overhears and assures him she is fine. Joey disagrees given her distance toward his father ... Bonnie reads Justin's history but has to let Patch in when he bangs on her door. He asks her for advice and gives her a hug. Bonnie tries to act sisterly but it's not easy. Steve sighs this concerns Kayla but mostly Joe. Bonnie is now informed that Steve claimed he had killed Ava. He is baffled by her surprised reaction and continues. He covered for Joe when he claimed he killed her. Joe? His son, who was not sober. Ava pushed him and made him snap. He tells her the rest of the story about his confession, the fact that he leaves for prison today. Bonnie gasps but then he could run into ... Steve wonders who ... Jen asks detective Hope for the alleged evidence and defends honorable Abe. Raines reminds her this case was started by the FBI. Jen now finds out it was Eli's doing ... Julie confronts Eli at Marton House and decides he does not deserve the place, after what he pulled with Abe. Matter of fact mad Julie demands it back. Eli insists he was not out to get Abe. She insists he got the wrong man ... Shocked Jen wishes she could speak with Eli but he is not present. Raines decides the press conference at the station has concluded and walks away. Jen urges Hope to tell her what is really going on. She knows there is more to this than meets the eye ... Theo just wants Abe to assure him he is innocent ... Tripp updates Claire on Joey's choice. Now she understands why Kayla invited her to the pub today with Theo. Tripp explains he will not attend the farewell party even though Steve invited him. He feels unworthy of his family ... Joey tells Kayla not to end things with his father because of him. She questions whether he would have confessed had his father not found Tripp. Joey reminds her Steve has two sons and insists he was stressed for a long time. He will make it through his minimum security prison but needs his folks to be together. Roman now asks for a word alone with Kayla and gives sis a coffee. He suggests she listen to her son for she and Steve will soon need one another. Kayla sighs she cannot ... Abe will only say he would never knowingly break the law. Theo continues with his questions and wants to know whether he was stealing from DiMera with Dario ... Eli talks justice. Julie tries to reason with him and warns him detective Hope is close to Abe. He is harming the family ... Hope admits to Jen she too hates what is happening. However she must uphold the law. Justin arrives explaining Val contacted him to represent Abe as his lawyer was unable to get him out on bail. Hope notes it is up to Abe. Jen points out he got Sonny out and also helped Abigail. When Jen mentions Lucas, Justin suggests she support him through this tough time cos he and Adrienne are back together ... Steve assures Adrienne Joe will be at a minimum security prison. It will be hard to say goodbye. He complains Kayla kicked him out and blames him. He now asks Adrienne to attend the goodbye gathering at the pub today. She tries to make an excuses but he seeks her support. He adds Lucas is also invited so she drops their breakup bombshell. Steve senses there is more. She admits she did the dumping and Justin is the only man for her. Steve thinks his sister is suddenly full of surprises. Bonnie gets more uneasy by the minute ... Abe declares he has no connection to Dario or his crimes. He can only say this is a mistake and promises his son it will end soon ... Eli assures Julie he will review everything against Abe and consider what she said. He admits he would hate to be on her bad side ... Jen is more than a bit surprised by Justin's news. He hopes Lucas will be alright. Jen hurries away. Hope asks Justin about Adrienne's about-face. Justin feels their history meant more and she said she never stopped loving him. Hope suggests he take it slow. She considers Justin a friend and would not want him hurt ... Steve joins Kayla and Joey at the pub. Joey excuses himself to help Roman. Steve sits down as Kayla gives him the cold shoulder. He understands it is hard and adds he is calling contacts to make sure they keep Joey safe. She thanks him and wishes things were different. He reminds her their son was not at peace and points out him bringing Tripp to town might have had an impact. However, he could not give up the chance to know his other son. Kayla cries and he tells his baby he loves and could not bear to lose her. He holds her hands as she considers. She cannot bear the thought of losing her son and is sorry for some of the things she said. No apologies necessary. She could not face this without him. He tells her they will do it together. Joey appears and they share a family hug ... Claire gets a text that Theo is coming over, having seen Abe. She tells Tripp they are still friends but he thinks Theo will come around cos she is so cool. He thanks her for making him see the light and they hug. Theo arrives and repeats what Abe said, though he wonders. He asks about the pub and Claire leaves with him. She will explain along the way ... Eli arrives at the station sorry he missed the press conference. Raines hopes he and the bureau will be able to make the charges against Abe stick. Eli is against any abuse of power for personal gain and Raines agrees. Hope watches Eli as he stares down the unsuspecting commissioner ... At the pub Joey assures Theo and Claire that his father will cover his rent until they find another roommate. They only care about him ... Nearby Julie lets Hope know she blasted Eli for Abe's arrest. Hope will only say once the evidence is all in she hopes Abe will be cleared but her eyes are hiding something ... "Adrienne" arrives and Jen asks for a word alone. Adrienne makes light of realizing she did not love Lucas. Jen calls her business partner heartless given all Lucas did for her. Adrienne quips at least she is not addicted to pain meds. Jen reminds her she is in recovery. She apologizes and notes the heart wants what the heart wants. Justin arrives and they start to kiss. Hope and Kayla soap stare at the sight. Kayla feels sorry for Lucas but Steve states they are in no position to judge anyone ... Eli pays Abe a visit at his cell. Abe sighs his son came by and hopes he did not make a mistake. Eli assures him it will not be much longer. Soon Dario's silent partner will let his guard down and that is when they will get him. They both suspect Raines. Abe is appalled he used his position as commissioner to cover his complicity in his counterfeit operation ... Justin wants to get closer when he ends up alone with Adrienne but she stops him. He wonders why she is suddenly so coy ... Joey gets to the loft, where Tripp awaits to say goodbye. They are both sorry for what they did, no more secrets. Joey says to take care of dad and the brothers hug ... Steve takes Kayla to the hospital to show her the room baby Joey was in when he was born premature. She remembers he was a fighter and puts her head on Steve's shoulder. He knows their son's fighting spirit will help him. They leave together to get their son ... Joey looks around the loft one last time. His parents come for him and Steve asks whether he is ready. He stands up with resolve and the family head out together to face the storm ... STAY TUNED! |
