Rafe softly probes secretive Ava in his cozy kitchen. He needs the whole story. She blinks tears of torment and tells him she fears Tripp offed Charlie ... Marlena whispers to Belle it might have been a bad idea to let John join Jan in her room. Meanwhile John stops Ms. Spears from summoning the nurse. He came to apologize for his blow-up when she lied she had offed Belle. Jan believes him and admits she is partly to blame. However, if he presses charges she is pressing charges right back at him ... Marlena is concerned about John’s control. Belle believes her father is back to himself. Marlena makes no mention of his lost time and his worry he might have offed Charlie ... Ava woefully tells Rafe she witnessed Tripp walking away from Charlie’s place. Later when she probed, they were interrupted by Nicole. Rafe talks police. She points out as a Vitali cops are not in her picture. She gets worried about losing her good son ... - Tripp wants Steve to know something he has been hiding ... Lucas sits with Sami on her bed as they crunch her chips. He is glad she gets along with Rafe and thanks God he cleared her good name. Sami also appreciates her ex Lucas. He praises her for protecting Allie and assumes she is heading home to EJ soon. Sami sighs she might stay. Life has not been easy with EJ in Italy ... Rafe insists the truth always wins. Besides, maybe Tripp did not do it. Ava explains after Tripp walked away, she got inside and came across still alive shot Charlie. Rafe vows to help her son and asks his whereabouts. He is probably at Steve and Kayla’s place. Rafe stands up and suggests they head there together ... Allie praises Tripp for all his help and apologizes for the past. Kayla sweetly suggests they all more forward. Allie nervously nods ... Lucas puts Sami at ease, and she admits EJ might never get back to his former self ... Kayla can see Allie is anxious. Rafe now arrives with Ava, who asks after Tripp. Allie suspiciously wonders what they want. Tis police biz, says Rafe. Allie steps away and texts Tripp NOT to come back to the apartment but tis too late. Tripp and Steve enter together. Allie whispers Rafe is here on official police biz. Ava apologizes to Tripp for telling Rafe the truth. Tripp concludes she confessed to killing Charlie and tries to defend her. Ava clarifies. She confessed to Rafe that she witnessed him leaving Charlie’s apartment. Rafe watches. Allie soap stares ... Sami woefully states EJ was different after the kids were away from home. Lucas supports Sami all the way. She points out EJ is sometimes in pain, feels helpless and lashes out. Lucas listens with his arms folded and acts sympathetic. But he blames EJ and talks survival ... John insists Belle call Shawn to arrest Jan, never mind if Jan gets him arrested. Belle insists on making a deal. Marlena stops the situation from escalating and takes John to the pub to talk. Belle returns to Jan, who is disgusted by the dinner menu, and talks tough. Jan warns John will not walk free! Belle came to make the deal Jan suggested in the first place. Neither party will press charges against the other. Jan Spears smiles triumphantly ... - At the pub John argues to doc that Jan is a clear and present danger to Claire. Marlena argues Belle would never stop blaming herself if John went to the slammer ... Ava argues she witnessed Tripp walking away from Charlie’s red door. He swears he did not shoot him. He went to confront him about his threat to take Henry from Allie, but no one answered. Ava hugs her good son in relief. Allie remains silent. Rafe sighs they should have come clean from the start. Steve steps up to defend them. Rafe rages if Salemites did not lie so much he might be able to catch the killer still on the loose ... John gets a haunted look in his eye. He mutters he might end up in the slammer anyway if he offed Charlie Dale ... Jan is smug until Belle efficiently whips out her legal agreement ... Sami insists to Lucas that EJ has a soft side, nothing like the ruthless DiMera the world saw. He was so devoted. Lucas notices her past tense. Sami breaks down about not feeling loved and Lucas holds her. He wants her to know what a wonderful woman she is. Their eyes lock and then their lips ... - Tripp escorts Allie out as she wants to return home to Henry. Steve assures Kayla tonight was the first time Tripp mentioned being at Charlie Dale's red door that night ... Tripp murmurs to Allie he must have just missed Charlie’s real killer ... Marlena insists John is innocent but the former DiMera pawn has doubts ... Belle convinces Jan to sign. Jan sarcastically tells little Miss Perfect her red coat has a button missing. Belle seems anxious about where it might have fallen ... Rafe has harsh words for Ava when they return home. She offers to move out and apologizes. He suggests she go up to bed cos he has work to so. He hates how witnesses lie and turns his attention to an evidence bag. Inside is Belle’s missing red button but he does not know that yet ... Lucas wonders what they are doing.
