These are my words. There is only one DaysCafe :) Now without further ado ... Roman drops by to see Kayla and asks after Steve. She announces she ended things. Roman feels her timing was wrong and suggests she reconsider. Kayla laments he loves danger and that is the problem. Roman praises Patch as an upstanding guy but Kayla counters she and their son were caught in the collateral damage ... Steve drowns his sorrows at the pub, downing one shot after another. Enter a sexy blonde in a red dress ... Officer JJ is hard at work at the station. He ends a call and waits for them to contact him once they have an official ID ... Abigail is sleeping upstairs at DiMera mansion. She has a nightmare of Ben joining her and taunting that no one will believe she saw him. She sits up with a gasp ... Chad is downstairs taking care of baby Thomas so Abigail can catch up on her sleep with a much needed nap. He takes a call from JJ, who updates him. He is waiting for a guy who attempted to cross the California-Mexico border to be identified. He is said to be crazy with eyes that resemble Ben's ... Abigail anxiously answers her phone although it shows an unknown called. Much to her relief, it is Ciara, who heard she was seeking a babysitter. She offers to come over to talk it over today. Abigail agrees ... Tina the temptress introduces herself to Steve. It plays out like an old black-and-white detective story. He saved her life once and she needs him to do it again ... Roman assures Kayla he understands it has been a rather bumpy ride. She quips she hates bumpy rides ... Chad is grateful and gets off the phone with JJ. When Abigail appears, he updates her on the possible Ben sighting. She flashes back to her nightmare but says nothing to him about it. Chad has to get going and assures her she will be safe inside since they have guards stationed on the perimeter of the house. He is pleased when Ciara and Theo come over. Abigail is looking forward to interviewing her distant cousin ... Roman reminds Kayla that Steve never sweats the small stuff. Kayla cannot live with the fallout though Steve always seems to be unscathed ... Tina tells Steve how she was once surrounded by thugs with knives and he happened by and saved her. He takes it all in stride ... Chad joins JJ at the station and complains he cannot bear to see Abigail so stressed about Ben. He is in her head and she will have no peace of mind until he is behind bars ... Ciara hopes Theo is not bothered to be back at DiMera mansion. On the contrary. He has good memories of the man who was his grandfather, how he loved to listen to la Traviatta loudly ... Ciara now tells Abigail she is looking forward to babysitting Thomas. Abigail is compelled to tell her that Chase came to the house looking for a place to stay but Chad turned him away. Ciara sighs she then knows what he did to her. Abigail admits she too has endured her own nightmare and wonders how Ciara can cope. Ciara notes she is not letting it change her. Abigail the empowered can relate ... Roman warns his sis that it is a sad thing to come home to an empty house with no one who loves you waiting. He exclaims Steve would DIE for her. She laments one day his luck will run out and she does not want to be there when it happens ... Steve wonders what Tina's problem is this time. All of a sudden his alter ego steps out of his body and stands beside her. Only Steve can see him. Tina tells the story of her man Frank's bogus bookkeeping, how he was working for some gangsters who must have thought he stole from them. They bumped him off, made it appear to be an accident but now she fears she is being watched! They must think she has the money though she claims she does not. Steve is intrigued. His alter ego exclaims to stay out of it for Kayla's sake ... Ciara admits she will be taking a summer class in English so ... Abigail notes they would not need her nine to five. The baby starts to cry. Ciara steps over and lifts him in her arms. Thomas stops crying. Abigail is impressed. She will check with Chad. They agree she can start tomorrow. Ciara will only be available after school until the summer. Theo pleasantly points out they can wait until Chad comes home but Abigail feels she will be fine. The FBI believes Ben is far away. Besides, the house is surrounded by police guards. She sees them out with a smile and a bouncy baby in her arms. A guard waves from the window so she opens the French doors that lead to the rose garden. Abigail offer him lemonade. Perhaps when he has a break. The doors are closed, locked, and he disappears from view. She turns around and finds herself face to face with BEN ... Steve starts to ask Tina for details on when she was followed, what the thug looked like, the address. His alter ego advises him to stop. If he gets tangled in another mess he will only ruin any chance he could have with Kayla by proving her right, that he was addicted to danger. Steve stops and suggests Tina talk to the police ... Roman is about to leave for a crime scene when Kayla stumbles. He catches her and she claims she is weak from not having lunch. He gets her a glass of water which makes her feel better ... JJ finally receives a clear picture of the nut who tried to cross the California-Mexico border. It is NOT Ben ... Abigail orders Ben to leave, believing him to be a figment of her frazzled imagination. She shuts her eyes and opens them but no Ben is there. Thomas gets fussy and she takes him up to the bedroom, forgetting her phone downstairs ... Outside Ben gets a guard in a choke hold, renders him unconscious, and steals his keys ... Kayla insists she is alright. Roman insists she consider giving Steve a chance cos the guy is one of a kind. Seconds after he leaves Kayla sighs her head hurts. Still she goes to the hospital to take her mind off her troubles with work ... Tina thinks Steve is the one who can save her. He drawls he is a different dude now and wishes her the best of luck with the police, her best bet. Outside the pub, his alter ego is waiting. Steve suggests he not be so smug and walks away. His alter ego grins a smug grin ... At the square, Ciara admits to Theo her schedule might be too swamped to see movies with him this summer. His face falls until she tells him she would rather share quality time talking to him instead of movies anyway. Then he beams and they go their separate ways ... Thomas looks distracted so Abigail carries him back downstairs. Chad has been frantically trying to reach her. She finally sees his text that the suspect was not Ben so Ben is still on the loose. She turns and sees Ben again! She insists he is not there. But this time he does not disappear. Instead, he slowly approaches, passing by the baby in the bassinet. He scoffs he is real and suggests she pinch him. Abigail gasps in horror and cries HEEEEEEEEEELP! Ben smugly states he knocked out guard number 1 and guard umber 2 is having a cigarette in the guardhouse. That means they have ten minutes together. Abigail freezes ... Steve enters the house with a beautiful bouquet of spring flowers for the woman he loves. Alas no one is home. He leaves a note along with the engagement ring she gave back. He writes he will never give up on them and neither should she. Then he walks out. The ring sparkles in silence ... Kayla arrives at the nurse's station for her shift, only to lose consciousness and collapse to the floor ... Abigail springs like a rabbit but Ben roughly grabs her with a growl. She weakly wonders what he wants. The serial killer states he wants them to be happy together again with their baby. He laments they were in love and wonders what went wrong, why she chose to be with another. She gasps she often wonders the same thing cos it was always better with HIM. She looks at him with her doe eyes and kisses him. Ben kisses her back, unaware the soap heroine is playing a game of survival. Meanwhile Chad is on his way home ... THE END!
