She overheard him speaking to Sami and asks for the truth ... Rafe and Ava are both out of breath and close to collapse. Nicole comes knocking. Ava opens the red door and Rafe gasps what is wrong? The good doctor is waiting ... Sami accuses Belle of always accusing her. John updates her on the mystery of the red coat. Sami insists on her innocence. She planted nothing ... Trask decides to ask Rafe to remove argumentative Shawn from the investigation. She vows to find the evidence as Shawn walks. Jan flashes back to John’s damning recorded session, how he saw Belle at the crime scene ... Nicole updates breathless Ava and Rafe on Belle being arrested and smug Jan Spears. They pretend they were discussing the case when she came in. Rafe seems relieved when he gets a text from Trask. Nicole notices something smudged on his face. He wipes it and goes. Nicole notices Ava is also distracted. Ava admits they kissed and updates her on his disappointment that Hope was not returning to Salem. She wanted to make him feel better. Then he kissed her. Nicole concludes she kissed him back and calls it a mistake ... Rafe joins Trask at the station and sides with Shawn about the lack of real proof. Trask demands something for a conviction. Rafe will search again but if there is nothing new the charges against Belle must be dropped. After he goes Jan steps forward with a present for the petulant D.A. - Sami and Belle continue to clash. Marlena makes them stop and tells Belle that Sami was flying to Salem at the time of the crime. Sami insults sis again and suggests she chill cos Rafe will find his man or woman. She leaves to tend to her own problems ... Chloe talks state of the art treatment. Lucas sighs he will tell her truth ... Ciara softly wonders why Ben came back. He remembers Claire pointing out he was pushing her away. Ben now tries to give her the washer ring which belongs to her. Ciara is not interested in anything connected to her crazy marriage. Ben urges her to take it for Bo. Now he has her full attention ... Ava senses Nicole's disapproval. Nicole is protective of pal Rafe. Ava alludes to a love connection ... Belle now regrets raging at Sami. John assures her no one will ever know about his hypnosis. Marlena sides with John. They must protect Belle until the real killer has been identified ... Trask laughs at the tall tale. Jan reveals there is a recording ... Lucas feels badly for taking advantage of Chloe’s kindness and claims he only contacted her cos of Sami. Sami walks in and condescendingly claims his condition is confusing him. Lucas tells Sami he will tell Chloe the truth. Sami assures him he is in no burden. Chloe complains he refused to go see the specialist. Sami takes her aside and asks her to make the appointment for later. She will try and get Lucas to agree to go. Chloe steps away. Sami issues Lucas a warning ... Jan saw the recorder from the session and knows what she heard. Trask wants her statement for a search warrant. Jan is fearful of John. Trask can get what she needs without her statement, so Jan breathes a sigh of relief. The D.A. vows to nail Belle. Jan smirks. Mission almost accomplished. - Shawn joins Belle, John, and Marlena. Alas Trask removed him from the case. Marlena believes justice will prevail with good man Rafe in charge. Shawn insists there is no evidence against Belle, who woefully admits there actually is ... Nicole argues mismatched Ava and Rafe are from different worlds. Ava pouts he is the police, but she is the mob ... Ben emotionally suggests Ciara keep the washer ring forever for it was from Bo’s bike. She gets tears in her eyes and accepts it. Their fingers touch and their eyes lock ... Back at the elegant DiMera mansion, Sami warns Lucas what would happen if Kristen exposed their one night to notorious EJ. Chloe comes back and Sami fibs he almost fainted. No appointment today! Sami praises Saint Chloe and goes on her perky way ... John updates the gang on his session with doc that made his memory return. The woman in Belle’s red coat shot Charlie Dale dead. He was a witness. Shawn quips he is not on the case now and does not need to report this detail to the D.A. ... Rafe meets with Melinda Trask, sorry to say there is no evidence. There is indeed and she hands him a warrant ... Nicole wonders why Ava is still staying with Rafe. Cos she has no money and he likes her company! Nicole concludes he must be lonely. Ava counters Nicole wants him! Nicole nervously laughs she is married. Ava notes like Eric and then apologizes. She appreciates her friendship and would never take advantage of good guy Rafe ... - Lucas feels as green as the juice he drank. Chloe offers to help him upstairs to bed ... Melinda returns to Jan. If she told her the truth then Belle is in big trouble ... Rafe arrives at John and Marlena's. He is here to escort John to the station. The silver fox demands his reason so Rafe reluctantly plays his hypnosis recording, his dramatic confession that he saw Belle shoot Charlie Dale dead. Drums play ...
