Upstairs at DiMera mansion, Ben is tied to the bed so now HE is the victim. That is how our heroine feels as she starts to light matches and taunts Ben, who begs her not to do it. Abigail is all smiles ... At the square Steve is trying to get over his hangover with a burger and fries. His son finds him and knows he has a hangover. He admits he saw the flowers, note, and engagement ring he left for his mother and hopes she has not given up on them. Joey still dreams of the day his super couple parents will reunite ... Kayla wakes up woozy in a hospital bed, being monitored by friendly Dr. Fynn. He informs her she fainted so he took the liberty of ordering the CAT scan she had refused. The results are in and she is suffering from some pressure caused by bleeding outside the brain. Kayla the doctor does know that means if it does not stop she could have an aneurism ...Ben begs Abigail not to but she finally tosses a burning match on the bed. The flames lick up over his legs and torso. He screams he loves her as she chants to die ... Chad races in and she screams to stop when he puts the flames out with a blanket. She turns her rage on Chad for not letting her kill him and storms back downstairs to her sleeping son. Chad goes after her. Bean is still tied up, burned, and appears to be unconscious. He starts to convulse ...Joey's new gal pal Jade joins Joey and Steve. She lets it slip she would love to take a ride on the wild side with Joey's motorbike. Steve refuses to let him ride given his immature behavior of late. Joey argues he is hung-over. Jade teases Steve too and smiles at him like his biggest fan. The teens take off together. Steve listens to a message on his phone and frowns ... Fynn urges Kayla to take him into her confidence concerning the cause of her head injury. She admits she was hit on the head but does not say a name. She makes light of his concern and takes a look at the CAT scan. She concludes it could go away and she can monitor herself. If it does not go away, she agrees to discuss surgery with Dr. Fynn. He prescribes her medication and adds he will give her one week. If it does not improve, he wants to operate ...Abigail is holding sleeping Thomas in the living room, rocking him as she sings a sweet lullaby. Hush little baby don't say a word ... Chad appears and reaches out. She snaps not to touch her. His eyes are filled with sorrow over her state but Abigail blasts him for letting Ben live. He tenderly tells her he did it for her and for their son, who needs his mother. She is convinced, however, that Ben is going to come after her and kill her if he survives. She returns her attention to the sleeping baby with her song ... Upstairs Ben is in pain but summons the strength to free himself from the ties that bind. The bloodied and battered killer slowly makes his way down the DiMera stairs, hearing some words clearly, others more muffled, as Chad convinces Abigail to tell him what happened at the house whilst he was away ... Jade the girl who like to play it dangerous is at a pub table with Joey. She tries to talk him into going to Chicago for a concert while they are on break from school. They could get let in by her roadie ex-boyfriend and crash with another old friend ... Kayla wants to swear Fynn to secrecy. She frowns when she finds out he left Steve a message that she was in the hospital and explains they broke up. Steve now arrives asking what happened. Alone with him, Kayla admits she suffered some bleeding outside the brain which put pressure. Steve wonders what caused it. AVA VITALI. He is so sorry. Kayla reminds him she wants her space and that has not changed. Besides he could be giving her more stress ... JJ has gotten the call from Chad at the station about Ben being at the house. He is on his way with Lani as well as ambulance ... Abigail asks Chad to hold the baby so she can go back upstairs and kill Ben. He gently brings her back to the reality of what she is saying in the presence of their infant son. She falls to pieces and he places his arms around her. Then he decides they will claim self-defense cos Ben had her cornered. Abigail protests but Chad is as stubborn as Stefano what it comes to protecting la familia ...Ben silently staggers down to the bottom of the staircase. He gets closer to the front door ... Joey feels the need to stay in Salem cos his parents need him. Jade casually counters like last time when he killed that crazy lady. Joey wishes she would keep her voice down but sees what she means ... Kayla claims she does not need his hovering but Steve knows for a fact that she loves him cos she said so and he loves her. Kayla laments sometimes love is not enough. His danger came a calling and now she knows not whether Joey will ever recover from what he did, not to mention her current condition ... Chad gets Abigail to tell him all details of her drama with Ben. He praises her for her courage and insists she tell JJ the cop she could do nothing else to protect herself from Ben. She insists she wanted to KILL him. Chad insists their son needs her and she must plead self-defense ... Ben creeps closer to the front door. Chad appears and slugs him in the face. Ben drops to the floor ... Kayla insists on being left alone as she has been for so many years. Steve hangs his head in sorrow and exits the room. He woefully watches through the window, unable to hear her refusing to spend the night in the hospital as suggested by Fynn ... At DiMera mansion the paramedics have strapped Ben to a gurney. Abigail is in the other room with the baby. Officer JJ points out he is a prisoner and tells his police guard to shoot should he attempt to escape en route to the hospital. Ben is in shock. Chad pleads self-defense for Abigail. Officer Lani looks on with suspicion as Ben gurgles about the beech needing to be arrested before he vanishes from view. She would like to question the witness. Chad flat out refuses until she has been attended to by a doctor. He goes all DiMera on the detective and threatens the incompetent department with a lawsuit. JJ asks to see his sister to say he loves her. Chad allows him access. He coldly stares at Lani in the foyer. She clearly can feel he is hiding something ... JJ lets his sister know how sorry he is and how much he loves her and Thomas. She silently and aimlessly plays with the baby's tiny fingers. JJ assures her Ben will never hurt her again and leaves ... Steve sits by the tulips in the park and takes out his phone, hoping for some form of contact from the woman he loves ...Kayla arrives home to an empty house. She sees the spring flowers with the note and ring and sits sadly on the sofa ... Chad returns to Abigail and explains he had the bedroom cleaned. They can claim self-defense. She cries damn you for now she will never be free of Ben! Then she wails like a wounded animal as he takes her tenderly in his protective arms ... THE END!
