Brady meets with Kristen at the mansion. She wonders what is the matter. They must give their daughter dire news. John died last night ... Julie weeps she is sorry. She is here for the fellow matriarch. She knows how hard it is to lose a soul mate. Marlena knows and they embrace. Abe and Paulina return with boxes from Sweet bits. Julie puts them in the kitchen. Others will be coming by today ... - Brady heard it happened fast. No one could save him. Kristen cries in disbelief that John is no more. EJ overhears and takes off to console his beloved Belle ... Back at the pub Roman decides to call the kids. Kayla warns Marlena has not told them yet. She sighs she promised to bring her John's personal effects. Roman will accompany her ... Abe gently broaches the subject of a funeral and offers to help. Marlena does not want to think about it. When EJ shows up Marlena hisses how dare he come here! He politely explains he came to offer his condolences. Belle suggests they go elsewhere ... Kristen cries for John and for Brady, who she can see is suffering. He cannot believe he will never see his father again. Kristen cries about the great man leaving the earth and feels for Brady. The great man is gone! She held him in the highest regard as a father and grandfather. The world will now be worse. Brady agrees with that sentiment ... Julie opens Marlena's door to sympathetic Roman and Kayla. They tell her that Bo woke up thanks to John saving him. He was a real hero. Marlena agrees and more tears flow ... - Abe and Paulina later head home. They vow to be there forever for John's family. Abe fondly remembers when he married John and Marlena and cries on his wonderful wife's shoulder ... Smitten EJ is with Belle at the square. She berates him for showing up at the house before everyone knew. He woefully states he came just for her ... Kayla urges Marlena to cancel her patient appointments today and be kind to herself ... Kristen recalls promising Rachel she could see John today. Brady showed him her card. Kristen sighs their daughter dreamt that John had died. Brady now learns EJ agreed to reveal her mother's whereabouts provided she not testify. She also agreed to keep the secret of Rachel seeing Johnny with a gun. Brady wishes she had consulted with him first and snaps does this mean their stressed daughter must keep that secret forever! - Kristen assures him therapists are bound by patient confidentiality. Brady still worries EJ will still pressure their little girl ... EJ blurts out he loooooves Belle. Alas she feels the presence of her worried father, who would not approve. EJ realizes he is being royally dumped ... Kayla and Roman have brought John's items from the hospital. Marlena insists on looking at them now. Alas his gold coin is gone ... Marlena is soon alone in her room looking at an old Christmas picture of her and John in a classic kiss as he reached behind where there was a drawer. She holds the photo to her heart and then breaks down ... Roman. Julie and Kayla realize there are calls to make.
