He finds a box and she sadly states it was to be his first dad's day present ... Xander comes to see Sarah at work ... Station Jada gets hung up on by Kate, who insists Xander shot Phil. Alas the cops can do nothing cos Phil has his story and he is sticking to it ... Phil thanks Belle for the smoothie. She seeks a statement. He sticks to his story of being knocked unconscious by a random attacker he did not recognize. D.A. Belle does not buy it ... Sarah coldly states she is busy. Xander knows she has a few minutes and announces he was exonerated so she was wrong. Sarah reminds him he never answered when she asked him if he did it and deduces Phil is staying silent so his forgery secret will not come out ... - Belle believes Philip and Xander cut a deal. She warns him Xander might still kill him. She sighs to already losing someone she cared about and he wonders who ... Marlena has had enough of the flowers that remind her of death. She gets out the baseball cap of the man she loved, smells it and weeps ... Chanel got the gift for Johnny when he thought they would be adopting Sophia and Tate's baby. He suggests she keep it for some day. She puts it back and then finds his gold watch. He invites her to breakfast. Alas she has an appointment ... Phil is shocked and sorry to hear about John. He blames himself for trusting Kevin. Belle gets back to the topic of his attack and talks justice. He fibs he cannot remember more but she warns she will get to the truth ... Sarah is stern with Xander and assumes he wanted a happy reunion. He will never trust her and demands shared custody. She refuses so he warns things will get worse and storms off ... Rafe is with Jada and updates her on his FBI training. He is back in the field and can work in Salem for the Chicago office. Smiling Jada is happy for him. He has intel on the EJ shooting investigation, which is why he came by ... - Johnny scowls when EJ arrives and warns he needs to head to the office. His father announces he is sorry ... Stylish Paulina has had her yearly physical at the hospital, feels fantastic and looks forward to her work and anniversary day with Abe. She wonders why Chanel is there ... Jada is shocked to hear about Rafe's secret camera at the DiMera mansion. He wanted to nail cad EJ for what he did to him. However, he cannot find the memory card and needs her help. Jada is all in to get the goods on EJ and also find out who shot him. Rafe's eyes flicker ... EJ enters. Johnny senses he is sorry about John. Indeed. But he is also sorry for asking him to forgive him. He dramatically declares that after tonight he need not see him again ... Chanel assures Paulina she is only here for a follow up appointment for her February cancer surgery. Mama wonders where Johnny is. She wanted to come alone so she could ask Sarah about the possibility of a baby but did not want to stress hubby ... Belle comes home and sees how sad Marlena is. Family hug. Marlena is still hanging onto John's baseball cap. Belle decides she will stay home ... Xander joins Phil in his room and praises him for not mentioning his name. Phil sighs he had no choice and remembers seeing him with the pillow. Then the Great Scot threatened to expose him to the cops and suggested a deal to keep them both out of the slammer. They both knew they needed to save their inheritance. Phil is still miffed. Xander wants them to make it work. Tis their only hope of not losing the empire ... - Marlena asks after Belle, who admits she is trying to keep busy. The talk turns to EJ. Belle told him she was having second thoughts about their relationship. John would not approve of her dating the DiMera. Marlena suggests her daughter do what she wants. Belle realizes she must make up her own mind ... Johnny wonders. EJ admits John's death made him do some soul searching. He would rather not hurt his son and thus has decided to let him go. He will never again darken his doorstep. Johnny suddenly seems torn ... - Sarah has a positive update for Chanel, who wants to try for a baby. Sarah warns that would be too high risk now. She might have to wait months or longer. The longer she waits the best it would be for baby. Chanel weeps for she so badly wants a baby ... Phil is surprised Xander wants them to work together. The Great Scot sincerely apologizes. Phil apologizes right back for trying to steal what was his and also for telling him that Sarah knew about the forgery. Xander concludes Sarah must not know he knew. Tis their newest secret ... Chanel updates mama on the risks, which lessen with time. Then there is Johnny's state of mind. He needs EJ out of his life for good ... Johnny sighs he hates EJ for what he did to Sami. However he has been a good father to him often and cares about his son. He does indeed. Johnny does not want to lose someone else in his life. EJ suggests he mull it over. When he has decided whether or not to have him in his life, he will accept his decision. Then he says I love you son and elegantly leaves ... - Jada and Rafe discuss the suspects. Someone stole that memory card. Jada assumes it happened at DiMera mansion ... Marlena stands and gets dizzy. Belle suggests a checkup but the blonde believes she is just fine. Belle goes on her way. Unsteady Marlena decides to call Dr. Sarah ... Phil assures Sarah he feels stronger. She asks if he was the one who told Xander about the forgery. Phil smoothly denies it ... Meanwhile Xander corners Madam Mayor at the hospital. He wants a chance at the hospital deal seeing as his wrongful arrest affected the outcome. Paulina suggests he focus on family instead of biz and goes on her way ... Chanel is surprised to find Johnny at home. He admits his dad came by and offered to walk out of his life. Chanel thinks that is good. Alas Johnny already lost John. Perhaps tis time to let go of the past and give his dad another chance ... Jada and Rafe agree that the shooter was trying to cover their tracks by removing the memory card. But so many people pass through those DiMera doors, some known, others unkown. At least they are on the right track ... Back at DiMera mansion EJ is playing chess with himself. Enter Belle.
