The three women need more serum. Kate did not survive. Steph jumps away to get dressed. Chad heads downstairs grumbling about not getting through so she did not know Kayla was waiting for her daughter. He steps out and Alex anxiously glances at her phone on the nightstand with all those messages she missed ... - John returns to Marlena and Eric with nothing new. The blonde senses something. The silver fox sighs Kate did not survive. Marlena gasps no. Eric goes to his father and Kayla. Marlena cries for fellow diva Kate and implores God to help Kayla ... Steve comes into Kayla's room with her sons on the line. Roman leaves his sis. Kayla is happy to speak to her sons and praises them both. She asks them to look after their father and finishes the call. Now she wants to sleep and mentions seeing her parents and Bo. She needs to see Steph but is fading fast. Steve begs her not to go. She whispers she loves him forever and he says the same. Then he cries on her heart as she slips away ... Steph arrives and Chad shows her where her mom is. She enters in time to hear the flatline and see sobbing sorry Steve. She breaks down on her dad's shoulder ... Chad gives the late Kate a tragic farewell and kisses her hand ... Lucas is pacing like a wildcat when Orpheus comes back with a wicked apology. Lucas calls him a monster. Orpheus tries to tempt him with a bottle of Kentucky whisky and leaves it on the table ... Eric returns to John and Marlena, who asks about Kayla. Alas ... She cries nooooooooooo and the silver fox holds her close ... Steph is stunned her mother is gone. Steve admits she asked for her. She cries she did not come to say goodbye and falls apart. Alex watches from the door and Chad wonders. Alex gasps she was too late. Chad curses about the phone being turned off. Alex soap stares ...
