At the square Sonny stuns Chad with the news that it was Alex who turned off Steph's phone ... Confronted cornered Alex must come clean to Stephanie about being to blame for her missing the final goodbye with mama Kayla ... Leo ends his call and covers with his usual panache. He gets catty with Will, who suggests Sonny was wrong to let him stay. Will accuses him of trying to con his good natured hubby. He overheard him talking about covering up. Leo lies it was just about a sales job interview. Will doubts it and departs. He orders Leo to let Sonny know he headed out to visit Marlena ... Chanel gives anxious Allie a pep talk. Sloan gushes she is also going after Paulina as a co-defendant and threatens to steal the entire empire, leaving them with nothing! - Chad is mad about what Alex did and blames him for Steph's upset. He growls now he must go and break her heart. Sonny stops him since Alex is coming clean as they speak ... Steph is disgusted she was doing the deed with Alex while her mother lost her life. He is remorseful. She kicks him out of her life forever ... Will complains about Leo to sympathetic Allie. He knows he is not reformed, he is really more devious. Alas second chance champion Sonny has been hoodwinked again ... Sonny admits to angry exasperated Chad that he insisted Alex tell Steph the truth. Meantime angry exasperated Steph concludes Alex would not have come clean had she not figured it out herself ... Leo stands by Gwen when Sloan comes by, having been summoned for a confidential conversation concerning legal advice. She demands a retainer so Leo tells Gwenny to pay ... Chanel summons perfumed power Paulina to update her on Sloan's latest stunt. Paulina reads the papers and sighs ... Sloan warns Gwen and Leo they are out of luck ... Anxious Julie arrives at the hospital asking after Marlena. Will is sorry to say it does not look well. Julie woefully realizes she forgot to bring her rosary for the planned prayers ... Chad gets mad at Sonny for even assuming Alex could get Stephanie to forgive him ... Alex shakily shares his regret and remorse for everything. Steph should ask Sonny. She snaps she has already seen the kind of man Alex is. He begs her not to throw them away. She blames him. He exclaims he learned his lesson and wants to make it up. She bitterly notes he can never erase the thought of her mother lying there alone and dead, how he stole her last goodbye ... Chad berates Sonny for only seeing the best in others but Sonny does not want to see the world as a cynic. Chad tries to warn him about trusting Leo too ... - Leo tries to flatter Sloan, who offers to try for a deal if they testify against Xander. Gwen refuses to go against the great Scot and walks out. Sloan starts to follow but stops when Leo says he has another idea ... Will offers to go get Julie's rosary from Horton house. Julie is grateful and tells Allie to be strong for they are needed. Allie complains about the Sloan situation ... Powerful Paulina scoffs about Sloan wanting to sue in civil court and assures her daughter that Sloan will lose to her cutthroat legal team ... Leo sits on the sofa with Sloan and talks plea deal. He would be willing to anonymously testify against Xander and lie Xander made him wear the clown suit. Sonny can never find out. Will enters the house in time to hear Leo say Sonny cannot know of his involvement for he believes he has reforned ... Sonny uses the r word. Redemption. Chad scoffs Alex deserves none ...
