Sonny asks about Justin, who is upset about Kayla and with supportive Bonnie. Sonny feels for them all especially Steve. At that very moment heartbroken Steve sadly enters Kayla's empty office. He sits in her chair and cries while clutching her framed photograph ... Guard issues Lucas a warning and alludes to the other day with Orpheus. Lucas shows Rex the bottle odious Orpheus gave him ... Sonny hopes Will returns in time for a moment with Marlena. Alex sighs Steph was too late to say goodbye to Kayla ... Steph is touched by the kids' condolence card and cries on Chad's shoulder ... Chad's blue eyes flicker ... Alex admits to Sonny he was with Steph last night and blames himself for her missing Chad's messages. He tells him he had turned off her phone so they could be all alone. Sonny is aghast ... Chad is sorry Steph did not receive his calls. She wonders why she could not hear her phone ring. Chad assumes she turned it off. She does not recall doing so ... Sonny snaps why would Alex turn off Steph's phone! So Chad would not interrupt their moment yet again. He had no idea it was about Kayla ... Jada offers to return another time. Steve tells her to stay and calmly wonders what they have. Rafe is having the DiMera mansion searched for the orchid. Steve sincerely hopes it will be in time to save Marlena ... - Roman admits to supportive Abe and Paulina it all seems so unreal. He deduces tis his denial and Paulina sympathetically states it was too much. She gives him a hug ... Lucas gives Rex the bottle, grateful he saved him from himself. They sit and Rex reveals he spoke to Austin, who will contact Billie who is on assignment. He also spoke with Cassie. Lucas wants him to also tell Philip. Rex reminds him he is missing and likely not alive. Lucas whispers he is very muxh alive and in a mental institution. Rex hears the whole story of how Phil snapped and tried to frame Brady. Kate and Victor sent him to Bayview to get better. Lucas cries she always took care of her kids ... Paulina has high praise for both Kayla and Kate. Kate felt like a kindred spirit and she felt fortunate to know her ... Jada remembers all the wonderful things her father said about Kayla. Steve concludes he and the kids were lucky to have her love. Jada reminds him she will live on through her kids and her love will live on in his heart. Steve likes the sound of that ... Chad listens as Steph complains about not remembering turning off her phone ... Back at the Kiriakis mansion Alex regrets turning off the dang phone for he and Steph got to the hospital too late. Now his dream girl is devastated. Sonny believes he owes her truth ... - Paulina steps away to the ladies roomg to freshen up after the tears. Roman calls her a good woman. Abe admits Kayla was like a sister to him and he and Kate become good friends despite the drama of the formidable fashionista. The two men share a heartfelt embrace ... Lucas tells Rex to go tell Philip and adds Roman knows his whereabouts. A somewhat surprised Rex agrees ... Chad suggests Steph not be so hard on herself. She replies she rarely turns off her phone. If only she could turn back time. She breaks down and Chad gives her a supportive embrace ... Alex does not want Steph to loathe him. Sonny questions their budding relationship starting with such a big lie ... Roman hands Jada her pub order. She is sorry about Kayla and Kate. Roman thanks her. Jada praises Kate for being kind. Roman calls them both lucky to have had her on their side ... Before he goes, Rex urges Lucas to be good to himself and warns the guard if his pal Orpheus pushes booze on his brother again he will report him to the warden ... Abe comes to see Steve, having learned his whereabouts from Jada. Steve assures him he has everything covered. Abe knows Kayla would want him to look after him. Steve weeps on his shoulder ... Steph sweetly thanks Chad for the support. Always. Night or day he is here. After he leaves she stares at her phone ... Sonny warns Alex that Steph could do the math so he should come clean before tis too late ... Steve sobs when he finds a pressed yellow rose in his baby's medical book ... Rex finds papa Roman at the pub. Lucas updated him on Philip and asked him to tell him about Kate. Roman agrees and knows Kate would as well ... A cup of coffee in his hand, Sonny catches up with Chad at the square. Chad was just with Steph, who blames herself for missing his calls, missing saying goodbye to her mom ...
