Mardevil protests but Ben opens the door to a bearded man the devil knows only too well. Tis cool angel Gabriel ... Brady has been bashed on the head with a crowbar and falls to the snow. Terminator Philip did it! Meanwhile Chloe leaves him another message. Terminator Phil is busy calling her a beech and dragging Brady away ... The hiker asks for water so sweet Ciara gives him a bottle and he drinks up. He comes to the area for spiritual renewal but the stream seemed desecrated. Kind-hearted Ciara offers to share their bottled water. He introduces himself as Gabriel, named after the arch angel. Mardevil gives him an icy stare ... Phil returns to the Kiriakis mansion and lies to Chloe he was busy buying her a gift he left in his trunk. He offers to take her out for a night to remember. She happily accepts ... Steve stops John from getting out of bed. He growls the police are not getting closer to doc. Steve gets him to drink some water. John demands to know how he knew he was in the crypt. Cos Johnny went there to make sure there was no devil as per the oiuja board. Marlena was outside acting oddly. Steve recalls how John already exorcised Marlena years ago. John sighs it seems it did not take since he was not a priest. If they find out what the devil wants they will also find Marlena ... When Gabriel approaches Mardevil she acts suspicious John sent him. Ben disagrees. Much to Mardevil’s irritation Ciara invites the weary traveler to stay for their meager sandwich meal. He hears she is with child and admires the necklace Marlena gave her. Then he looks at Mardevil again. Heaven vs Hell in the cozy cabin! - Paulina assumes Abe came for John and updates him on Marlena's repossession as per John himself. Abe is shocked. Paulina also blames the devil for their wedding blow-up but he snaps the lie started with her. She follows him ... Phone Lani praises Tamara for all she has done but her heart is breaking. She ends the call with an I love you and Eli comes home. She cries on his shoulder ... Persistent Paulina continues to follow Abe and asks him to sit and hear her out. He gives her 60 seconds. She apologizes. He gets impatient. The stylish diva argues she did not anticipate meeting and falling in love with him and hopes he can forgive her for the secret she had to hide ... Lani cries to Eli that Tamara said she loves her. Poor Abe's heart is breaking. They had a wonderful talk and he said she was his daughter forever. Eli knows he means it. She sighs Kristen said the same thing when she visited her before her transfer to Statesville. Eli gasps but she never got there. Kristen never arrived at Statesville ... Phil plays the role of the romantic hero escorting his sweetheart to their tree of love. He stops and fake gasps. The tree has been torn out of the ground! Chloe gasps who could do such a thing. He remembers doing the deed and then fake finds Brady's fallen watch that he previously planted. - Steve wonders what the devil wants. John knows they need to find Him. He will keep coming back to doc until he gets what he wants. He suggests faith, prayers, remembers Father Francis and suddenly remembers his guardian angel Gabriel. He is the cool dude who watches over him and gives him strength to fight evil. He wonders where he went ... As Ciara and Ben prepare the simple lunch Gabriel engages in a telepathic discussion with the devil, who leers HE sent you. T'was God. He reminds her he will help John defeat her again just as he did 20 years ago. Mardevil's eyes glow with glee. Game on ... Abe refuses to forgive Paulina, who states John said he was very forgiving of his late wife. He snaps Lexie was the love of his life! Paulina knows she is nothing like Lexie. Abe softens somewhat when she tells the sad story of suffering from the bio-daddy of her baby. She fought hard after that and did the right thing for her Lani. Then God gave her another chance with beautiful daughter Chanel. And amazing Abe. Alas now she has lost them all. Abe insists he loves Lani. Paulina is grateful ... The devil insists an angel is not allowed to meddle in human matters. Gabriel adds he can allow the devil to know he is being watched and the Lord is watching over the child. The devil gloats about all the global chaos while the Lord's name is used in vain. Gabriel argues there remain good mortals like Ben and Ciara. Love will conquer all ... Chloe hears Phil's farfetched theory that Brady was jealous and killed their tree. She cannot believe he would be so immature. Besides she just saw him at the pub wearing this watch which he rarely removes. Phil concludes he snapped when he saw Chloe getting them dinner. She insists he was getting food for John and heads to the hospital to find him. Phil shouts he is reporting the tree vandalism to Park Services and pouts while she walks away. Her loyalty toward Brady makes him livid ... - Lani learns from Eli that Kristen's van literally went off the radar. She assures him she did not help her escape. He believes her. Lani suspects she might be ... Abe promises Paulina that nothing will change between him and Lani. They already agreed. Paulina is relieved and wonders about their own romantic relationship. Abe cannot deny he still does love Paulina, whose eyes dance with delight ... Back at the cabin Ben and Ciara set the table. Gabriel believes in breaking bread with fellow travellers and innocently suggests Marlena say grace ... Paulina attempts to hug Abe, who stops her. This lie makes him wonder whether he can risk his heart again. She asks how to win back his trust... Lani and Eli arrive outside John and Marlena's place, where Kristen could be hiding ... Steve suggests they take their investigation to the next level. John seconds that. Here comes Chloe asking about Brady. Alas he has not arrived with the chowder. The songbird wonders whether Phil was right after all and hastily excuses herself ... Terminator Philip moves Brady to a snowy spot by the river, still believing he cheated with Chloe on the Titan table. He bellows at unconscious Brady he will not get his girl and whips out a knife ... - Abe talks time. Paulina promises to wait forever. He woefully walks away ... Mardevil agrees to say grace. Gabriel suggests they join hands and stares as she asks the lord to bless them for the bounty they are about to receive. Amen. Afterwards her eyes are no longer glowing ... Eli is sorry he spooked the sitter who was with napping Rachel. He and Lani saw no sign of Kristen or Brady ... John worries because Brady is not answering his calls or texts.
