Kayla has just ended a call stating Sarah has not been a doctor at the hospital some months. Steve arrives and astounds her with Marlena claiming John was violent ... At home John rubs his sore neck. Belle is worried and he praises her for saving them. They both fear for Marlena. John drawls did they find Philip's body? No and she hopes they never will ... The prodigal son is home and greets Kate. She hugs him with happiness but his eyes seem strange. Dire music plays as she recalls he was declared dead. She wonders how he survived Brady's attack. He leers there was no attack from Brady cos he set him up ... Belle wants papa to stay put. She gets a call from Chloe about Brady's arrest and is on her way ... Kayla is horrified to hear the story of the devil almost strangling John and Ben dead without lifting a finger ... Xander wants to know where Sarah the former fiancee is. Rex drawls how the hell should he know. Xander suspects he is hiding something. Rex drawls he has not seen Sarah since their nonwedding and anyway they were never together ... Belle stops John from staggering to the station and promises to keep him posted ... Brady is cuffed to the chair in the police room. Chloe sympathetically sweeps in. Eli is allowing her to stay a little while. Belle is en route. Brady is bothered by his arrest but asks her to go be with John, who must be worried now about him not just Marlena. She agrees and he thanks her for being a friend. She tells him they will make it together. He holds her hand ... ... - Kate explains Brady attacked Phil when he was drunk. Phil hisses t'was part of his plan. When Kate hears he staged his demise at Brady's hands, she slaps him hard and calls him a bastard ... Gwen reminds Xander they have a flight but he wants answers from Rex. Rex explains Sarah dumped him just when they were about to run off together. Seems she did the same to both of them ... Stylish Kate is furious Phil put her through hell. He argues he returned to let her know he was alright and apologizes, then boasts and wants to tell her his story. He tailed Brady to the pub and watched while he chatted up Chloe, then took a call alone after Chloe left. He struck Brady on the head with a crowbar outside the pub. Kate gasps he could have been seen. He gleefully adds there is more ... As they sip coffee Belle updates Brady on the mayhem with Marlena ... John is happy to see Chloe, who assures him Brady is doing alright all things considered. He falls onto the couch in pain and updates Chloe on the cabin fight. He wants to hear about Brady. She sighs Trask is out for his blood. John is miffed Melinda got an arrest warrant before there was anything concrete on Phil's living or dead status ... Steve solemnly wishes the same as sweetness - that he and John will be able to find Mardevil. All of a sudden Steve morphs into Mardevil. Tis madness! Kayla warns the devil away. Mardevil cracks jokes. Kayla demands to know what she wants and what she did to Steve. Mardevil reveals she is after Kayla this time ... Brady is stunned that Marlena almost killed the gang at the cabin and reminds unhappy Belle it was not really her. He feels for John. Belle believes he will feel better once they get his son home. Alas Philip was declared dead by his parents ... John has heard the same thing from Chloe and cannot believe Victor went along ... Kate demands to know how Philip covered his tracks. He brags he dragged Brady to the bushes and bought shots at the pub with his credit card. She wonders how he got him to drink. He injected him with booze and cares not it could have killed him ... - Rex impatiently repeats he and Sarah were never together! Gwen wants to go. Xander shouts at him to wait and rages where the hell is Sarah. Gwen looks sad ... Brady sighs to Belle it seems Victor turned on him. She suspects Kate put the pressure. They agree Trask would do anything to convict anyone anytime. Belle wants to fact check. He explains how everything went blank after he got a call at the pub. Before Trask had him arrested down at the river he did remember voices. Belle suddenly suggests they check the pub security camera ... Phil airily states t’was not his intent to kill Brady and continues. He laughs he sent murderous texts from Brady's phone, stuffed him in the trunk and dropped his watch nearby. Kate deduces Phil was the real tree destroyer and he does not deny it. He is proud of his perfect plan. Fow now ... Chloe offers to talk to Kate. John teases Kate cannot stand her. She thinks they share that they do care about Philip and gets emotional about Brady. She will do her best for him. John is grateful. After she goes he calls Steve but it goes straight to voicemail. Next he tries calling Kayla … Kayla demands to know what Mardevil wants. She believes she has been a nuisance along with her allies. Kayla warns John will win again. Mardevil claims she will. Kayla stands up to the devil and states she will not let her kill anyone. Mardevil seeks a sweet revenge on Shawn and Belle way worse than death but she refuses to help. Her phone rings and Mardevil furiously sends it flying through the air just to show she means business ... - Stylish Kate feels Phil went too far. He leers just like mother. She tells him to continue. He admits he dragged Brady down to the river, sliced his hand and smeared his own blood on him. Kate seems concerned he cut himself. He laughs he left his fake leg in the river cos he had kept the old one. He believes he was clever but Kate shakes her head ... Belle is happy to run into Rex at the pub. She is sorry about what happened with Phil and is here about the surveillance footage from that night. Alas Roman is not present. She asks Rex to look for her but he reasons she is defending the guy who may have offed his brother. Belle insists Brady is innocent and adds it would be best to know what really happened to Philip sooooo ... Xander sits and reels from not knowing the truth about Sarah. Gwen concludes she wanted to be alone. Xander is stunned she has been texting stories to mama Maggie. He wants to go see the redhead but Gwen wants to go to the airport. Xander refuses to go anywhere until he gets answers from Saraaaaaaaaaah! Gwen senses all is lost. - Brady tries to focus and remembers again how he told to Phil to get away. Belle returns sighing someone erased the pub security footage ... Kata cannot believe her son concocted such a crazy plan for Chloe. Phil fumes she made a fool of him for he overheard her and Brady discussing their office fling, how she swore him to secrecy about the conference table. He notes they will never know it was him. Kate does not want to lie about her son being dead. So many are mourning! Chloe now knocks on Kate's door and he hisses not to open ... John leaves Kayla an anxious message about not being able to reach Steve. Kayla has been knocked out on her office floor. Mardevil uses her key card to gain access to Jan Spears in the coma unit.
