Kirsten Storms, still known as the sweet ex-Belle
on Days, has not fought the drunk driving charges
brought against her for having driven her Mercedes
while under the influence. Her plea was “no contest.”
In addition to paying a fine just under $400, Kirsten
will be on probation for 3 years, will have to do 12
Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, a 3 month alcohol
program,  and, endure a 6 month driver’s license
suspension. And if she pulls a Paris Hilton and does not
follow the  rules as imposed by the court, she could face
a not so lucky 13 days in jail …
Kirsten now plays Maxie on General Hospital.

It was like a scene from Days of Our Lives …

A former college football player and investment banker
“died” of sudden cardiac arrest recently. His brain activity
was gone but his wife refused to pull the plug though he
was declared brain dead. Three weeks later, the dude
woke up with no memory whatsoever of having “died.”
And that’s a fact!

Lastly but certainly not leastly, Bryan Dattilo (Lucas)
recently thrilled a Days fan on the Ellen show, who had
the treat of meeting members of the Days cast. The big
Bryan thrill came when instead of a regular hug, Bryan
planted a big, romantic, soap style kiss on the overwhelmed
gal … We give him a 10 for technical merit, 10 for artistic!

BIG CHANGES ALERT!
October 31, 2007 - Link Only
Dena Higley has reportedly been invited back as
co-head writer at Days, which is wonderful news!
Dena had a sense of the fun and fast, so get ready for
some excitement a la soap style!

MIRRORS OF OUR LIVES ...
October 23, 2007 - Link Only

Mirrors of Our Lives?

In 2004, Tony DiMera was killed by a once Brady (Marlena). Actor
Thaao Penghlis had learned of his character’s death in October.
Tony was later revealed to be Andre.

In 2007 October Tony’s half-brother John - the husband of Marlena -
was killed. The trail will lead to Andre DiMera.

Following his character’s sudden demise in 2004, Thaao Penghlis (Tony/Andre) went overseas, gave a somewhat cryptic interview
about the show, and his fans launched a campaign to have him reinstated.
It was later revealed that Marlena hadn’t killed anyone, that the DiMeras
had faked the deaths. Tony was alive and well on a faraway island…

Following his character’s sudden demise in 2007, Drake Hogestyn (John)
went overseas, gave a somewhat cryptic interview about the show, and
his fans launched a campaign to have him reinstated ...

UPDATE: told ya!

Joe Mascolo – aka STEFANO – Live Blog Quotes
from June 21, 2007
Courtesy NBC

“It's always wonderful driving the people of Salem insane,
because it's a wonderful fantasy.
I like playing both sides of the character.

Stefano’s favorite child would be the oldest male, and that
would be Tony.

Stefano’s coming back to deal with his sons. There's two and a
half sons. Elvis is a son, when I left the show, who was not there.
That's only 7-8 years ago, but he certainly grew up fast. I think
you'll see stuff coming up where I'm trying to stop these guys
from coming in and roughing each other up.

I don’t know if they would reveal John to be a Brady. I think it's
funny that Stefano has his kidney. I would love to do more work
with him. If he's a Brady or not, I have no idea. Going back in
time is pretty interesting. I know fans want to know Stefano's
background, what makes him who he is. I hope our current
storyline will answer some of those questions about his family …”

STEFANO'S LAST STAND!

The Salem P.D. were after the Master DiMera for having
stolen Bo and Hope’s baby, whom he gave to Lexie, to
raise as her adopted child. Bo was enraged. With John
leading the pack, the Salem P.D. surrounded Stefano at the
DiMera mansion. Stefano pretended to hold a gun to daughter
Lexie and made his escape down to the cellar, with John in
hot pursuit. Stefano left Lexie. John raced on. Shots were fired
in the dark corridor but Stefano soon overpowered John’s mind
with psychological warfare. John flashed back to his pawn past
and collapsed. Stefano slipped through a secret exit and Bart
later drove him to the airport in a convertible, where the now
Hawaiian-shirt clad villain bid a final farewell to Salem ….
That was June 2001 - the last time he was seen conscious
by Salemites.
Stay tuned!

P.S. Then came the bags of fan mail protests,  jammed
fax machines - but that is a whole other story :)

NO SOAPS PLEASE, WE’RE DAYTIME DRAMAS Says Industry!
LINK ONLY
Expect more drama in daytime dramas in the near future as the
genre evolves. Insiders say that for the daily format to survive,
shows must take themselves seriously. It is no coincidence, for
example, that the Young and the Restless has celebrated 18 years
as the Number 1 daytime drama of television.  It is all about realistic relationships within a very dramatic format. Nowadays the  heavies
in the industry already balk at the word
soap. “The  word soap
conveys something that sounds silly,” one source points out.
“We’re all about drama  - an endless genre.” True indeed.
Translation: Soaps are OUT, Daytime Dramas are IN!

CHAVEZ & SOAPS!
LINK ONLY!

He sticks out his tongue at the free world, allies himself with Fidel Castro, and yells himself into a frenzy, but a little known fact about current Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez is that he used television to broadcast a soap opera. A soap opera to improve his image and spread his beliefs. And that’s not all. The angry orator – who recently called George Bush the devil – has been romantically linked to a soap opera star! Soaps and Chavez. An Orpheus, Ernesto, Stefano wannabe? Naaa. El presidente is more like a cross between Days’ Horton the tiger and Tom Fisher from the Young and Restless, the good news being that both vanished from the radar almost as quickly as they appeared …

SCANDAL UPDATE (link only)
I have been in direct contact with the New York Post and they have confirmed that Ms. Boof's exact quote was "I took characteristics straight from Osama. This character wants to take over the world."

ADDITION: She has since been let go by the show.

SCANDAL ALERT! (link only)
By now the whole soap world knows that Kola Boof, the former forced mistress of Osama Bin Laden, is writing for Days of Our Lives. It is a tragedy when a woman is victimized and certainly a triumph when she finally has her moment to shine.
As of this morning, however, I am bombarded with emails from angry Days fans. Why? In a recent
New York Post interview Ms. Boof stated she is using the characteristics of Bin Laden for one of the villains on the show. And the fans do not want to see any of Bin Laden's characteristics on their favorite sudser.
Perhaps Ms. Boof  might consider sharing her information with the appropriate audience - the global intelligence community - as she is currently missing her mark.
Stefano would be appalled.

After days and days of reflection, one thing stands out - Bond, James Bond! That's right, we have our very own soap star James Bond aka the one and only John Black, who is set to rescue the timelessly stunning Marlena like a suave soap knight in shining armor! We are talking the best of Shakespeare, with a touch of MI6, a splash of modernism in a tropical backdrop that does justice to any tv! Is it realistic? Hell no!
But who turns on a sudser for the news anyhow?
Also, many hats off to the writers for giving Abe his sight, his life, and a career befitting him, for here indeed doth stand a commissioner!

March 7, 2006
By now we all know that Mr. John Ingle is leaving the role of Mickey Horton to return to General Hospital. My feeling is that he would have been best served as a lawyer with courtroom scenes. He has a certain articulate, understated way about him. A pity we did not see enough Mickey courtroom scenes. My fav Mickey moment was when he played
that scene with Trump and had this look of shock on his face, as if he
were thinking "Dear God, it IS his real hair!"
