UPDATED 8 pm Actor Patrick Swayze has passed away, surrounded by family, following an almost 2 year battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 57. The star, best known for his roles in the hit movies DIRTY DANCING and GHOST, recently worked on a deeply personal memoir with the help of wife Lisa. A best seller, to be sure ... Morning Update: News of the World broke the news that one of the post-it notes Michael Jackson left on his bathroom mirror appeared to be a reference to a phase in a self-help program for recovering addicts. And it looks more and more likely that Neverland might end up becoming a memorial a la Graceland to the king of pop, with an eternal flame burning, despite the fact that he rests elsewhere. Meanwhile, the concert tribute to MJ has officially been moved to London - for next June. Meltdown Alert! Besides Jane Fonda's no-show at the Toronto International Film Festival (did anyone even notice?), the only unusual incident was the case of Connelly crying. Actress Jennifer Connelly and hubby actor Paul Bettany are both in the film CREATION, but spent very little time at the after-party - for which she was criticized. At a news conference the next day, the actress, who was reduced to tears, apologized and explained it was the first anniversary of her father's death. Media sources had previously reported Connelly losing weight due to the strain of her dad's passing. We hope folks give her a break and stop reducing the poor girl to tears.
