At first glance, it seemed a humorous prank, Ellen Degeneres declaring herself the replacement for Paula Abdul in American Idol. Ellen at her finest wit. But wait! This was real! Ellen is indeed going to be Paula's replacement. Simon says! Paula the good sport, meanwhile, has wished the Emmy-Award winning star the best of luck. Jane Fonda is at it again! Making noise, that is. The former Vietnam visitor now has her sights set on a boycott of The Toronto International Film Festival, which includes a spotlight on the city of Tel Aviv. According to Miss Jane and some other celebs, it is reportedly tantamount to propaganda. Canadians, however, will not back down on freedom of expression for the event, so the show goes on, with the red carpet list including the much more newsworthy George Clooney, Oprah Winfrey, Ewan McGregor, Penelope Cruz, Colin Farrell, Julianne Moore, Chris Rock, Michael Caine and Sarah Ferguson, to name a few. The TIFF continues! South Carolina congressman Joe Wilson yelled "YOU LIE!" as President Obama made his televised health care address to Congress Wednesday night. But it coulda been worse. In "Throw Mama from the Train," Danny Devito yelled "YOU LIED TO ME!" at Billy Crystal, and hit him over the head with a frying pan. In "The Princess Bride," the hag yelled "LIAR!" at the miracle worker, and then chased him around, chanting "Humperdinck, Humperdinck, Humperdinck!" to torment him. Congress by the year 3000 ...?
